Curso de español y voluntario o trabajo social

Desde que empezó Nueva Lengua hemos recibido personas maravillosas que no sólo querían aprender español y conocer el país, sino también ayudar a personas necesitadas.

Es por eso que ahora ofrecemos el curso español y voluntariado a nuestros estudiantes. El voluntariado o trabajo social se realiza en convenio con La Granja, que es un lugar perteneciente a una fundación sin animo de lucro que desarrolla varios proyectos de impacto social que consideramos importante para la sociedad.

El voluntariado en la granja no solo es muy gratificante sino que le permite al estudiante practicar el español con niños, profesores y otros profesionales que trabajan en ese lugar.

La Granja tiene varios campos de acción en los que el estudiante podrá ofrecer su colaboración en la medida de sus posibilidades, estos son:

• La Granja tiene un kínder para niños de escasos recursos económicos.  Muchos de los niños llegan desnutridos y por ello en el jardín infantil los niños reciben una alimentación balanceada.

• La Granja ofrece a niñas adolescentes que viven en un orfanato relacionado con la fundación la posibilidad de aprender a realizar algunas labores domésticas y agrícolas para motivarlas a ser autosuficientes en un momento de sus vidas en el que están próximas a la mayoría de edad y saldrán del orfanato. 

• La Granja ofrece a personas con problemas mentales la posibilidad sentirse útiles realizando algunas labores de Jardinería. Estas personas también hacen parte de una institución de salud mental relacionada con La Granja.

• La Granja tiene una bella  casa central , que fue donada por una familia, y puede ser alquilada por compañías  o personas para  eventos sociales. El dinero del alquiler ayuda a financiar las múltiples actividades.

My vacation in Bogotá Colombia is one of the finest I’ve had in many years because of the volunteer program offered to students while studying Spanish here at Nueva Lengua Escuela de español Universidad de la Sabana.

I volunteered in a Charity called La Granja. The program gave me the opportunity to work with two groups of children. The first group range in age from 2 to 4 years old. The second group are girls ranging in age from 14 to 17 years old.

Even though my ability to communicate effectively in Spanish was limited, the management and Staff of the farm have been extremely helpful and considerate. They know I want to be of help so they have been more than willing to help me accomplish that.

I have enjoyed helping the smaller children play games, work puzzles and use the playground equipment.

The older girls are indeed young ladies so I treat them as such, consequently we have a great time using both English, which they are studying and the Spanish I am learning at the University.

They are very enthusiastic about learning English, so during the time I accompany the girls when they feed the rabbits, plant vegetables and various fruit products I help them with their English which they seem to appreciate.

We all laugh a lot as we struggle to communicate with each other about our lives and dreams for the future.

There is much more I could say about how much I’ve enjoyed the Spanish course at the University and the volunteer program.
