Panama: The Canal that opens the door to the Spanish

Panama City is located on the shores of the Gulf wth the same name in the Pacific Ocean, and is bordered to the West with the entrance of the Panama Canal, engineering unique in the world that links the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean in only 80 km. You will see the combination of modern architecture to the level of the great capitals of the world, which contrasts with the historic town Old Town (Casco Antiguo). Panama has a gastronomic offer of delicious dishes and desserts from the national and international cuisine; as well as multiple markets and major shopping malls where you can find wide ranges of purchase options.

The city also boasts one of the most important financial centers in Latin America, called Banking Area (Área Bancaria), where exist more than 90 national and international banks. Also, Panama is one of the main spot in Latin America for holding competitions like football (soccer), baseball, fishing, surfing, cycling, triathlon and many other sports.

The ruins of Old Panama (Panamá La Vieja), dating back to early 16th century, are part of UNESCO's world heritage, and it is one of the unavoidable places for everyone to enjoy a stay in Panama. This place, which extends into almost 30 hectares in the vicinity of the current city of Panama, was the first Spanish settlement in the Pacific. The sector of the Casco Antiguo is also rich in history; You can visit places such as the building of the Presidency of the Republic, the Cathedral Church, the France Plaza, the Flat Arch (Arco Chato), St. Joseph's Church "Golden Altar", the National Theatre, the Interoceanic Canal Museum, History Museum and many more.

And if fun is what you are looking for, here you can find it. If you like dancing, can visit nightclubs and bars located on the "Calle Uruguay" in the banking area or "Zona Viva" at the entrance to the Amador Causeway. But if you want to enjoy the sun and the beach you can visit Taboga island just 45 min by boat from the city; where you can take a short stroll through the small town of colonial origin and then go to the beach and soak up in its refreshing and pleasing waters; of course, you can taste the delicious food of the sea.

The wide range of gastronomic and hotels, the use of the US dollar (USD) as legal currency, the existence of a multitude of cultural attractions for visitors, several shopping centers and more, make a place ready for the enjoyment of the traveler's stay in Panama City.
